Biography ENGLISH

Date of Birth: January 29, 1976

Producer Patrick Renier discovered the highly talented Belle Perez back in 1997. After a few studio try-outs Belle's career really began to kick in after the release of the hit single 'Hello World’. In 1999 the song made a huge impression on the Euro-song voters and went on to attract a wider public and become a runaway summer hit during that year. Spain (not surprisingly), Italy and South America were quick to latch on to the track and within a short time the Limburger with Latin roots started to become a ‘hot product’.

As the new millennium began a new single was released from the successful album ‘Hello World’. ‘Honeybee’ stormed up the charts and was rewarded with the accolade ‘Radio 2 Summer hit and best production’. It also got them a stateside recording contract and genuine full-blooded world promo-tour. Belle began headlining festivals from Spain and Italy to South America and soon it became widely acknowledged that ‘La Perez’ had arrived in style.

A stream of hits continued to flow from this fountain of talent and in 2001 La Perez released consecutive smashes including ‘This Crazy Feeling’, ‘Kiss and Make Up’ and ‘Planet of Love’. This time her efforts were acclaimed with the prestigious ZAMU award for popular music, this award from the highest echelons of the music industry finally cemented her reputation.

2002 started where 2001 had left off, with yet more hits. ‘Get up and Boogie’ raced up the charts and the summer hit ‘Me and You’ earned them a gold disc along with the award ‘ Summer hit 2002’. The surprisingly diverse and inspired album ‘Everything’ released at the back end of 2001 included the above-mentioned tracks and also made a big impact for the title track along with the song ‘Hijo de la Luna’, which was recorded with assistance from talented vocal group Voice Male. The press was quick to broaden this “story of the child of the moon” and transform Belle into a kind of fairy tale personage.

Saturday 19th of April 2003 was the historic date that Belle presented her album “Baila Perez” to a maximum capacity crowd at the Casino Kursaal on the Belgian coast. This was a high-powered Latino concert bursting with talent, energy and style. Accompanied by a 10-piece band Belle expertly delivered a series of Latino classics and transformed many of her hits into vigorous Latino songs. Throughout the summer of 2003 there was no stopping her as she thrilled home audiences and even charmed the French side of the country, the album went gold, sold over 40.000 pieces and held the pole position at the top of the Belgian charts for weeks on end. The piece de resistance from this album “Enamorada” received the award “Summer hit 2003”. By the end of 2003 this Spanish/Belgian kicked off a special theatre tour in Flanders and launched her assault on Holland. Belle’s stunning looks and endearing personality quickly attracted immediate media attention there, which she followed up with rock solid ‘live’ performances and appearances on radio and TV.

Belle’s subsequent first release in Holland “Hijo de la luna”, now on the prestigious Dutch ‘Princess records’ label shot up the charts there in January 2004 and secured a position in the top 30 of the official Mega top 100. On Saturday 20th March 2004 Belle took to the stage with her own band at the Chassč theatre in Breda to wow the audience and show them ‘La Perez” in action, moreover to give Holland a taste of what to expect in Summer 2004, a sock solid Latino album and a finely tuned ‘live’ performer.

The evening prior to the debut performance her second Dutch single release “Bailaremos” was on virtually every radio play list in Holland and making ground in the official Mega top 100! This was rapidly followed up in May 2004 with the hit-single “Enamorada” The Ditch media had already warmed to Belle’s unique and remarkable talents, this fact was accentuated by the biggest radio station there ‘Radio2 who confirmed the opinions of all listeners that “Here is a class artist who just needs a infinitesimal bit of ‘luck’ to completely take over in Holland.

While the massively successful ‘Arenatour’ is playing to capacity audiences in basket ball stadiums throughout Flanders preparations are being made for the release of Belle’s new ‘live’ album that will hit the shops sometime in August 2004. The debut single from this album “Light of my life” has already made serious ground and received accolades from two of Belgium’s largest radio stations namely Radio 2 and Radio Donna. Throughout the summer while Belle is headlining at the biggest festivals in Belgium the team ‘behind the scenes’ will be canvassing Germany, Spain, Portugal and seeking other territories to conquer with the conspicuously remarkable sound that is ‘La Perez’.
